Terms of Service

These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the RankEngine SEO AEO Shopify app and the marketing site at rankengine.app ("Service"), operated by RankEngine ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must operate a Shopify store and be the merchant of record (or be authorized by the merchant) to install RankEngine. The Service is for legitimate e-commerce use only.

2. Plans & access

RankEngine offers Free, Starter, Growth, and Pro access levels. Plan availability, trial eligibility, and billing terms are managed inside Shopify and the Shopify App Store listing. Plan changes are made in-app under Billing.

If your store is eligible for a trial, Shopify shows the approval terms before access changes. We do not refund partial billing periods unless required by law or Shopify policy.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to manipulate search rankings via cloaking, link schemes, or content scraping in ways that violate Google's Webmaster Guidelines or Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our source code or proprietary algorithms.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Service output without permission.
• Use the Service for stores selling illegal goods or content prohibited by Shopify.

4. AI-generated content

RankEngine generates SEO content and recommendations with RankEngine AI services. Generated content is provided as-is; you are responsible for reviewing and approving it before publication. AI may occasionally produce inaccurate or off-brand output. We mitigate this with quality gates and plagiarism checks but cannot guarantee perfection.

5. Intellectual property

You retain all rights to your store's content. Content generated by RankEngine on your behalf belongs to you, subject to applicable platform terms. The RankEngine app, brand, and proprietary code remain our intellectual property.

6. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may experience downtime due to platform or infrastructure outages. Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Status updates: help.rankengine.app/status.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RankEngine and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

You may terminate at any time by uninstalling the Shopify app. We may terminate your access immediately for material breach of these Terms. On termination, our shop/redact webhook fires and your data is deleted per the Privacy Policy.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in our place of business. Disputes will be resolved in good faith and, failing that, in the courts of the same jurisdiction.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms with reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
