Quick answer: paste text below and get instant keyword density for every 1-, 2-, and 3-word phrase, plus a verdict on your target keyword against the healthy 0.5–2.5% range. Density is a diagnostic, not a dial: 0% means the page never says what it wants to rank for; 3%+ reads as stuffing.

How to read the numbers
Density does not rank pages — but it exposes two failure modes fast. If your target phrase sits at 0%, the page cannot rank for it: search engines still need the words to appear where they carry weight (title, H1, early body copy). If it sits above 3% and the top-phrases table is one phrase repeated with minor variations, the copy was written for a crawler from 2009, and modern engines treat it as spam.
The more useful signal is the 2- and 3-word phrase tables. They show what the page is actually about, statistically. A product page for a linen duvet cover whose top phrases are "free shipping", "add cart", and "sign up" has a content problem no single-keyword count reveals — the selling copy is thinner than the interface chrome around it.
What to do with the result: put the keyword in the title, H1, and first 100 words; keep body copy natural; and let related phrases (material, size, use case) carry the rest of the relevance. The Shopify SEO guide covers where each signal lives in a Shopify theme, and RankEngine’s audit checks keyword placement across every product in the store at once — including the pages you forgot exist.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good keyword density?
There is no official number — Google does not rank by density — but in practice healthy pages land between 0.5% and 2.5% for the primary keyword. Below ~0.5% the topic may be too diluted for the page to be clearly about the term; above ~3% it starts reading as stuffing, which hurts both readers and rankings.
Is keyword density still a ranking factor?
Not as a dial you can turn. Google evaluates topical relevance with far more sophisticated signals than term counts. Density is useful as a diagnostic: 0% means the page never says the thing it wants to rank for; 5% means it says little else. Both are problems density surfaces in seconds.
What is keyword stuffing?
Repeating a keyword unnaturally — in body text, lists of cities, or hidden text — to manipulate rankings. It violates Google’s spam policies and reads terribly. If your density is above ~3% and sentences exist only to repeat the phrase, rewrite them for the reader.
Does this tool count phrases or just single words?
Both. It reports the top single words, two-word, and three-word phrases with counts and density, after filtering stopwords like "the" and "and" — so what you see is what the page is actually about.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser. Paste a draft, a competitor page, anything — it never leaves your machine.
